Leadership

Pastor Steve Bishop

Pastor Steve's journey began in Greenville, Texas, where his strong Baptist upbringing instilled in him deep family ties and beliefs. Despite feeling nervous about public speaking, he felt a calling to ministry as a teenager but didn't fully surrender to it until he was 27.  He will tell you that he did not want to be a pastor, as he puts it, "he gets nervous when speaking to a crowd".

The calling in his heart never silenced and one day, he realized he had to be obedient to God.  Rather than putting family off, he married his wife Daphne during this pivotal time, preparing themselves for the sacrifices ahead due to their obedient hearts.  He commuted every Monday for years from Huntington to Houston to pursue his Master's Degree in Christian Education while being a youth pastor, college student, and a father to three young children.

Later on, they felt the call to adopt, a seed planted in Daphne's heart at a young age.   Steve, too, embraced the idea after a mission trip to Romania, where he witnessed children who may never know Christ.  God had now planted that seed in his heart as well.   He sat his wife down one day and said, "Whenever God allows us to, we will adopt internationally''.  Their adoption journey led them to China, where they met their daughter Caidee after overcoming many obstacles.  She serves as a daily reminder to have courage and say yes to Jesus.

The journey of following God's plan has taken them to many places, including Hawaii before coming back home to the Greenville area.  Being obedient and pursuing God's purpose has brought Steve and his family here to lead, guide and direct us all.   We are extremely blessed and Thank God that their journey brought them to lead Ridin' High Cowboy Church.  With God's many blessings pouring out in the form of a new church building, covered arena, congregation growth, talks of expansion and countless lives transformed.

Their story stands as a testament to the rewards of obedience, guided by Deuteronomy 28:1: "Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess."
